Northeast Metro 916 Intermediate School District

School Board

The Northeast Metro 916 School Board consists of one representative from each of the 14 member districts. School Board members have been elected to the school board in their home district and have been assigned by their district to serve on the Northeast Metro 916 school board. The School Board is responsible for governance of the district, public accountability and approving the district budget.

The superintendent serves as an ex officio member of the school board.

School Board Meeting Logistics

School Board meetings are held the first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. with exceptions made pending conflicts with member district board meeting schedules. Meetings are located in the board room at the Bellaire Education Center in White Bear Lake.

The board packet is typically posted on the Friday before the meeting and the superintendent sends out a board preview document to member district superintendents prior to the meeting. Following the meeting, a talking points document is provided to all school board members with a summary of the meeting. Board minutes are published in the district’s official newspaper, the Vadnais Heights Press.

The annual meeting takes place in January and at this time, officers are elected. A calendar of meeting dates is approved at the December meeting for the upcoming calendar year.
