On Tuesday, Valley Crossing students found humor and inspiration from "The King of Giggle Poetry" Bruce Lansky. Lansky has visited over 650 schools and loves to write poetry that captures the attention of kids and be funny. Many of his poems are humorous takes on classic poems and stories such as “Yankee Doodle Went to Town Riding on a Chicken.”
He spent the full day at Valley Crossing, starting out with an assembly where he engaged students through a game called “poetry telepathy” where students had to guess the next word in the poem based on rhyming. He also visited each grade level and worked with the students to develop collaborative, silly poetry.
