Northeast Metro 916 to meet with local leaders in effort to create safer schools

School bus
Superintendent Connie Hayes will join Tony Denny, teacher at Capitol View Center ALC, and other leaders from Ramsey County to study the dynamics contributing to incidents of violent youth behavior in schools. Called the Community Task Force on Safe Schools, the group will recommend community-based solutions to improve safety in schools for students and staff.
Ramsey County Attorney John Choi called for the formation of a task force in December 2015 after highlighting the problem of violence in Ramsey County schools against teachers and other school staff.
The task force is made up of nearly 40 parents, students, teachers, school resource officers, youth workers and others with firsthand knowledge of the struggles our youth face and the types of behavior adults are challenged to respond to. Members were selected because of their diversity of personal and professional experience, direct involvement with youth, and commitment to finding actionable solutions. The group was designed to be geographically and demographically diverse and representative of the Ramsey County community. View the list of members.
A community conversation will be held July 25 for community members to provide input. Please join us:
